Funko Pop Stickers Explained

By Animetasia

That little sticker in the corner of a Pop box can change what it's worth and how hard it is to find. New collectors ask us about stickers all the time at our booth, so here's a plain-English rundown of the ones you'll see most.

Why stickers matter

Funko uses stickers to mark where a Pop was sold or what makes it different. The figure inside might look almost the same as a regular release, but the sticker tells collectors it came from a specific store, event or limited run. That's often what separates a $15 Pop from a $40 one.

Exclusive stickers

A store exclusive is a Pop sold only through one retailer. The sticker usually names the store or reads "Exclusive" or "Special Edition." You'll see stickers for big retailers, Funko's own shop, and specialty shops. Same figure, smaller distribution, more demand.

"Special Edition" is worth calling out. It's a generic exclusive sticker Funko uses for releases that went to a limited group of retailers. Collectors treat it the same way as any other exclusive.

Convention stickers

Pops sold at big conventions get their own stickers. Funko labels them by season, so you'll see "Summer Convention," "Fall Convention," "Spring Convention" and "Winter Convention," often with the year. These are some of the most collected stickers because the original run was tied to one event. We have a full guide on convention exclusives if you want the details.

You may also see a "Shared Exclusive" sticker. That means the Pop was sold at a convention and through select retailers at the same time, so it's a little easier to find than a convention-only release.

Chase stickers

A "Limited Edition Chase" sticker marks the rare version of a Pop, usually packed about 1 in 6. If you see this one, it's the variant collectors are after. More on that in what is a chase Pop.

Finish and feature stickers

Some stickers tell you about the figure itself:

These often stack with exclusive stickers. A Pop can be both a store exclusive and glow in the dark.

Limited edition and numbered stickers

Some releases show the exact production run, like "Limited Edition 3,000 pieces." Lower numbers usually mean higher demand later. Thrilljoy does something similar by printing the total piece count right on the box, which you can read about in our Thrilljoy PIX! guide.

A word on fake stickers

Because stickers add value, fake ones get printed and stuck on regular Pops. Real stickers are crisp, evenly cut and the colors match other examples of the same sticker. If a sticker looks blurry, off-color or peels oddly, look closer before you buy.
